Fast, Friendly QDRO Drafting

Handling all of the details of a divorce is hard enough…
Getting the QDRO drafted should not be a struggle.

I will work with you to make the process as easy as possible.

I’ll respond to emails and phone calls by the next business day, if not sooner.

Sometimes the problem is understanding all of the arcane language and choices involved in dividing retirement plans upon divorce.  Please feel free to call me anytime for help in sorting out the details and the appropriate options, even before you’re ready for the QDRO.  Many times, creative thinking can avoid the time, expense, and general hassle of getting a QDRO done.

Getting started can be as simple as filling out my intake form.  I’ll also need a copy of the divorce judgment or separation agreement or both, so I’ll know what share is going to each party.  A recent plan statement is also needed, and, if available, a copy of the Summary Plan Description and QDRO Procedures.

If you have all of those details and submit them, I’ll call you to confirm that I can start work as soon as payment is complete.

Steven L. Abel, Esq.

Steve Abel has been doing QDRO’s for my clients for the past 24 years.  His work is outstanding and my clients tell me that he is a pleasure to deal with.  Steve is one of the most honorable people I have ever known.

What I need to get started:

  • The usual personal details.
  • Name of Plan to divide, with copy of a recent statement.
  • How it is being divided.
  • Provisions for death before or after finalization.

I will be personally handling every detail of the process – from drafting to pre-approval to submission to the court and finally delivering a certified copy to the plan.

My fee is $750 for any one QDRO, $1,400 for two QDROs for the same couple.  That is a flat fee unaffected by the vagaries of different retirement plans.  The fee is the same for defined contribution and defined benefit plans.
